Sharpness starts with stability, and Z 5 has one of the best in-camera image stabilization systems available. NIKKOR Z lenses activate 5-axis VR image stabilization-up to five stops of stabilization in up to five directions: yaw, pitch, roll, X and Y. Compatible F-Mount NIKKOR lenses-even those without built-in VR-activate 3-axis VR image stabilization. Great for stills, even better for video.
In the blink of an iris.
Freeze time with shutter speeds as fast as 1/8000 of a second-fast enough to capture moments invisible to the naked eye. When shooting with wide aperture settings for shallow depth-of-field and blurred backgrounds, that speed can also be used to control your shot’s brightness.

Great portraits put focus on the eyes. Z 5’s powerful Eye-Detection Autofocus quickly finds your subject’s eyes-humans, cats and dogs alike-and puts them in sharp focus. It even follows them as they move behind objects in the frame.

Z 5’s sensor is practically covered in focus points-273 of them, to be precise. That means wherever your subject is within the frame, there’s almost certainly a focus point locked on them.
Flash of genius.
Z 5 is compatible with Nikon’s Creative Lighting System. Fill in shadows, make subjects stand out, enhance natural light and add artistry with an optional external Nikon Speedlight flash.

Z 5 includes dual UHS-II SD card slots. Use them together for overflow storage, automatic back up or separating file types like RAW and JPEG or stills and videos.

Street Ready
When not in use, the NIKKOR Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3 retracts into itself and is just 51mm long. It’s wonderfully balanced on Z series cameras and is also extensively weather sealed against dust and moisture, making it ideal as a walk around, do-anything lens.

Technology
Stepping Motor
NIKKOR Z lenses use a stepping motor for fast, accurate, smooth, quiet autofocus with reduced wobbling. This quiet drive system makes the lenses ideal for use when shooting video.
ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) Glass
An optical glass developed by Nikon that is used with normal optical glass in telephoto lenses to obtain optimum correction of chromatic aberrations.
Aspherical Lens
A lens with a curved, non-spherical surface. Used to reduce aberrations and enable a more compact lens size. Aspherical lenses minimize coma and other types of lens aberrations, even when used at the widest aperture. They are particularly useful in correcting distortion in wide-angle lenses and help contribute to a lighter, more compact design by reducing the number of standard (spherical) elements necessary. Aspherical lens elements correct these distortions by continuously changing the refractive index from the center of the lens.
Electromagnetic Diaphragm Mechanism
An electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism in the lens barrel provides highly accurate electronic diaphragm or aperture blade control when using auto exposure during continuous shooting. With conventional D/G type lenses, the diaphragm blades are operated by mechanical linkage levers.
IF Lens
A NIKKOR lens in which only the internal lens group shifts during focusing. Thus, IF NIKKORS do not change in size during AF operation, allowing for compact, lightweight lenses capable of closer focusing distances. These lenses will be designated with the abbreviation IF on the lens barrel.
Super Integrated Coating
Nikon Super Integrated Coating is Nikon’s term for its multilayer coating of the optical elements in NIKKOR lenses.
