Description
Handheld shooting is improved by the GH6’s 5-axis gyro sensor and a new algorithm that helps achieve 7.5 stops of body image stabilization (I.S.) and Dual I.S. 2. With high-resolution mode, 8 consecutive images are automatically taken using the Body I.S. and converted into a 100-megapixel image that reproduces every detail to be saved in RAW or JPEG format. The compact, lightweight design of the GH6 makes handheld ultra-telephoto photography possible. The powerful Body I.S. can also be used for video recording, including 4K. Appropriate compensation is applied according to the type of movements, such as panning, tilting, or handshaking. The Body I.S. compensates for camera movement even when a cine lens without O.I.S. is used.
Featuring a 25.2-megapixel live MOS sensor without low-pass filter (LPF), Panasonic’s new camera reduces rolling shutter and achieves a wide dynamic range. In addition to double the processing power, the new Venus Engine enables high-speed processing of the sensor’s higher pixel count and higher resolution, resulting in higher bit-rate video. Other new features include intelligent detail processing, 2D noise reduction, and high precision 3D noise reduction. Combining the new sensor with enhanced saturation performance and the engine, you can render cleaner images even at 25.2-megapixel resolution at ISO 100.
The LUMIX GH6 produces 4:2:2 10-bit C4K 60p unlimited video recording. The 4:2:0 10-bit 4K120p and 4:2:2 10bit FHD 240p HFR video recording with audio is also available to enable speed ramping. FHD maximum 300fps VFR enables you to capture a subject’s dynamic motion. In addition to 4:2:0 10-bit 5.7K 60p, the GH6 records 4:2:0 10-bit 5.8K 30p (4.4K 60p) anamorphic 4:3 video. This latest Panasonic production also displays de-squeezed footage on the on-camera monitor in real-time. Beyond this, you can also capture 5.7K 30p internal video recording in ProRes 422 HQ and ProRes 422 using the CFexpress Type B card. Additionally, the camera can power 4:2:2 10-bit C4K 60p internal recording with simultaneous output in 4:2:2 10-bit C4K 60p over HDMI.
Features
Color Profiles and LUTs.
The LUMIX GH6 offers 12+ stops of wide dynamic range for V-Log recording, which is pre-installed. By using the dynamic range boost, creators can achieve up to 13+ stops. The V709 LUT with Rec.709 standard is available in the camera. See your footage with the LUT applied in live view as well as playback mode with the V-Log View Assist function. Video assist functions including Waveform Monitor, Zebra Pattern, Luminance Spot Meter, Frame Marker, Anamorphic Desqueeze Display, Red REC Frame Indicator, and Tally lamps are included. The new Safety Zone Marker has been added, and it guides users by showing 95%, 90%, or 80% recording area. On top of these already boosted features, the GH6 also has a Center Marker, which gives users the option to choose the marker type, and it has also incorporated Kelvin values into the recording display.
Pro Level Audio.
Upgrade your audio by choosing between either (or both) an XLR microphone connected via the XLR Microphone Adaptor (Ch1, Ch2) and a built-in microphone (Ch3, Ch4). With these two options, you’ll be able to record 48/96kHz 24-bit high-res audio. Perform sound check during the audio recordings by plugging in headphones via the headphone jack and accessing audio menus during live video recording (available through the Fn1 button).
Smart Mobility, Efficient Operation.
Thanks to the new sensor and image-processing engine, auto-focus performance has been improved. With faster signal processing and an improved algorithm, subject detection has never been better. Manual focusing options are available on the LUMIX GH6 to support high precision focusing. Users can adjust sensitivity from 90 to 360 degrees in increments of 30 degrees. Now, creators can shoot photos and record videos with MF Assist. With a mechanical shutter, the GH6 is produces high-speed burst shooting at 14 (AFS) and 8 (AFC) fps, or 75 fps with an electronic shutter. View it all on the built-in 3.0-inch free-angle touch-control monitor, which has a 1,840K-dot high resolution in a 3:2 aspect ratio.
Build Quality and Performance.
With the LUMIX GH6, you can record unlimited videos in C4K 60p 4:2:2 10-bit by optimizing the heat-dissipating path with a forced-cooling mechanism. Creators can also enable video recording of VFR/HFR, ProRes, and high-resolution footage even beyond 4K. With a magnesium alloy full die-cast front and rear frame, it’s splash-, dust-, and freeze-resistant down to 14 degrees Fahrenheit. In addition, the shutter unit can handle approximately 200,000 cycles. Both the front and top of the camera have a record button for ease of use in most situations.
Expanded Storage.
The LUMIX GH6 features dual card slots — one CFexpress card (Type B) slot and one SD Memory Card UHS II slot.
Connectivity For the Pros.
Panasonic has equipped the GH6 with an HDMI Type A terminal and a cable lock holder for a secure connection. Users can recharge the camera’s 2200mAh battery using either AC or USB power. A 5-GHz Wi-Fi connection provides fast data rates, and Bluetooth 5.0 ensures constant connection with devices while consuming little power. Get even more connectivity and control by using the LUMIX Sync app for iOS/Android. The additional LUMIX Tether app enables tethered shooting and can be controlled by plugging it into a PC via USB and using the monitor to view the image live.
