Thanks to its compact, lightweight design and zoom range covering the most frequently used focal lengths (equivalent to 35mm to 77mm in 35mm format), this versatile lens makes medium-format photography easier and more accessible for users around the world – advanced and beginners alike.
Consisting of nine elements in nine groups, the optical system of this zoom lens features an ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lens element and PENTAX’s original ghostless coating to produce sharp, crisp images even against backlight. It also features a 65 to 35 degree angle of view (equivalent to those of a 35mm 70mm standard zoom lens in the 35mm format), a minimum focusing distance of 2.6 feet (0.8 meters) with a maximum magnification of 0.16 times, and a single-action manual-focus/autofocus switching system. Its large, flower-shaped lens hood not only shields excessive light effectively at all focal lengths, but also comes equipped with a PL filter window that allows for easy control of a polarizing filter.
