Description
It means that color fringes are eliminated to such an extent that they are practically imperceptible to the observer in all light conditions. Color reproduction is both accurate and brilliant. The new Victory models are, by the way, the first FL binoculars following in the footsteps of the award-winning Zeiss Diascope FL spotting scopes.
Edge of field sharpness is also excellent, the best of any Zeiss binocular so far. Due to special design measures, stray light has been largely eliminated. Practical benefits include: no troublesome reflections and exceptional image brilliance. In the optical systems, high efficiency Abbe-K”nig prisms (without mirrored surfaces) are used in the 42 mm models and Schmidt Pechan prisms with newly developed Zeiss dielectric mirror coatings are used to erect the image in the 32 mm models.
Together with the effective ZEISS T* multilayer coatings (T Star), and P* phase coatings (P Star), the new Victory binoculars achieve transmission values that are considerably higher than 90%. Maximum light transparency falls in the section of the spectrum to which the human eye is mostsensitive. All these properties result in the ability to recognize detail that satisfies the highest standards, even in unfavorable light conditions.
The 32s have among the widest fields available in mid-sized binoculars: 420 feet at 1,000 yards for the 8x, and 360 feet at 1,000 yards for the 10x.
Due to the eye relief of 16mm, most who wear eyeglasses will be able to appreciate the full field of view. Screw-in, screw-out eyecups are lockable. They also feature notches when extended to 4mm, 8mm and 12mm, so that actual eye-relief can be matched to individual eyes. Close focus on all five models is 6.5 feet. As such these binoculars become genuine tele-magnifying glasses, ideal for instance, for observing insects. With the Victory 10×42 or 10×32 T* FL, an object 6.5 feet away looks like one observed by the naked eye from a distance of 8 inches.
The superior optics of the new Victory binoculars are safely encapsulated in a housing made of glass fiber-reinforced polymer with a 60% glass fiber component.
